I'm still confused on ED

“it may be hard to withdraw from an ED agreement if the college meets your demonstrated need”

This still sounds like part of the myth; if there are schools that do this, I think they should be named–I think they would be violating the spirit of the Common App ED FA agreement (though some schools don’t use the Common App).

So, “last call” for a known case of a school meeting calculated need but making it hard to withdraw from an ED agreement when the family says it’s not enough to support attendance.

How much is the first deposit usually?

First deposit is usually $500.

Is it my understanding form part of this conversation that if a student applies ED, the school is less likely to offer some form of merit aid? Especially if they have intimated on the form that Financial Aid is not being sought? We are in that position but obviously a little Merit Aid would help take the sting out!

Well this one girl told me that she applied ED to George Washington and they gave her almost 30k a year of scholarships. I would think they wouldn’t give you less or more than people who apply regular.

I said: “I don’t think an incident like that has occurred, as far as I know. A college can’t really force a student to attend. I apologize if that’s what I implied on my initial post”

This is true.

This is getting even harder for me. haha. I really want to apply ED but then again I don’t. I think my only shots, from what I’ve heard, about getting accepted is if I apply ED. I heard GWU gives out amazing aid and scholarships to their students, but some people don’t get too lucky.
