<p>How much do 1st quarter grades count in ED? When I called Columbia they said they want them.. and mine are gonna be kinda low compared to the rest of my transcript becuase i always do better 2nd quarter. Do u think they'll be weighed very heavily?</p>
<p>probably- it wont look good that you're "slacking off" senior year. What do I do if I don't have my report card yet...I want to send it in, got straight A's, but my report card probably wont come in for a couple of weeks.</p>

Since the decision is made by mid december and 1 semester isn't over until January..-_-;</p>
<p>no they only want midyear grade reports - and those come in january-ish.</p>

<p>Uh... i'm looking at the columbia application and I only see a form for midyear school report.</p>
<p>In the instructions, there's also no mention of any first quarter grade requirements:</p>
<p>"The secondary school report and the Midyear school report are the documents with which your school will let us know of your academic achievements... The secondary school report must be returned to us postmarked by the first business day after January 1. The Mid-Year School Report, which tells us of your schoolwork in the first part of this academic year, must be postmarked no later than February 1, or as soon as mid-year grades are available..."</p>
<p>I know that.. but when I called the admissions office they said they want them. Call them yourself if you dont believe me.</p>

since the application doesn't mention it, if the college REALLY wants it they will notify you...</p>
<p>It sounds like the January 1st deadline and mid-year grades are probably referring to RDs.</p>
<p>Most schools would like to see first quarter grades for ED applicants, but it's usually not a requirement. </p>
<p>Have your counselor explain that you usually do better second quarter and that the classes you're taking are naturally going to be harder senior year. I think I'm having the same problem. My school doesn't send first quarter grades if they're really bad, but then the college will wonder why they didn't send.</p>

Because then it might be hard to get your counselor to talk about you, seeing as how they have like 700+ kids to worry about.</p>

<p>dont send first quarter grades. its not necessary and they never mention it. of course it never hurts to send them if u did well, but its not a requirement. sometimes the people on the phone don't know what they're talking about like a lady told me i could call back in several hours to check if they received something i faxed, i called back 4.5 hrs later and another woman was like "i dont know who told u to call but its going to take at least a week" they just say something to make u feel safe but there is no mention of a report of first quarter grades, only a midyear report, which does not come out until january.</p>

<p>FOR ED, you only send in if accepted or deferren, not denied. And its first semester grades, so after second quarter. And I called up Columbia also and they said if its available, you should send in your first quarter grades.</p>
<p>I hope they do look at 1st quarter grades... I am getting straight As :)</p>
