I'm stressed a lot. Chances for the top schools for me please?

Hi, I was just wondering about my chances for some colleges that I were interested in

South korean male
GPA: Our school does not do GPA
Rank: Our school does not rank
School type: New York City Public, but you only gain admission into it in 7th grade after passing its admissions exam, which is only offered to students who scored in 90th percentile in citywide exam in 5th grade. = Very competative and prestigious high school in Manhattan (more than Stuyvesant)

SAT: 2000 (M670, CR660, WR670 Essay: 9) <-- I am retaking this in october, projecting to get 2150 + (been stuyding for this exam for 8 months after taking it in january)

SATII:
Biology: 700
Chemistry: 700
Math IIC: 630 (retaking, i was sick that day)

Grades:
Now here is where i have the most problems. Our school submits a high school transcript to colleges beginning 8th grade. I slacked off horrendously in 8th and 9th grade. However, hopefully colleges will completely disregard the 8th grade grades. I have worked MUCH harder and have tremendously improved my grades sophmore and junior year. hopefully, colleges will notice the upward trend

8th grade average: B-
9th grade average: B
10th grade average: A-
11th grade Average: A-/A (more leaning towards A)

11th grade courses:
**note that our school only allows us to take APS beginning 11th grade, and we are only allowed to pick 2 electives. However, in order to take AP chemistry, i also needed to take physics with it, thus unable to pick another AP.

English IV B+/B
Physics A-/A
AP Chemistry A/A+
US History B+/A
Honors Precalculus B+/A-

Senior courses (very rigorous):
AP Psychology
AP English Language and Composition
AP Biology
AP AB Calculus
Adv. Drawing/Painting
Biology Teaching Internship

APS taken:
US History: 5
Studio Art - Drawing: 5
Chemistry: 3 (witholding this one)

Extracurriculars:

Executive board member of our Asian Cultural Society for 2 years (member for 4 years)
President of the Art Club for 3 years (member fo 5 years)
President/Founder of our school's volunteer program to repaint old walls (2 years)
Chief Art Editor of our school's newspaper (2 years)
Publicity Secretary of our GRADE's student government (1 year, member for 3 years)
Publicity Secretary of our SCHOOL's student government (1 year, had to resign from publicity secretary of grade government to join school government)
Big Sib (program for only a few select juniors where they mentor incoming 7th graders for a year)

I also have been going to a private art school since 9th grade

Achievements/Awards:

2006 Silver Key for Scholastic Art Awards
2006 Exhibited Scholastic artwork in Brooklyn Museum
2007 Gold Key for Scholastic Art Awards
2007 Gold Key for Scholastic Art Awards
2007 Honorable Mention for Scholastic Art Awards
2007 Exhibited Scholastic artwork in Brooklyn Museum
2007 Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation Scholar (VERY selective art program that admits only 60 applicants for a two-week intensive training in visual arts NATIONWIDE)
2007 Leader of our art school's Summer Abroad Program in Italy
2007 Exhibiting artwork in a private gallery in Manhattan

***This year, I'm also applying for ARTISTSWANTED competition (winner gets his/her own free show in manhattan and $2007) and im applying for the NFAA competition (National Foundation for the Advancement of Arts) I have high expectations for NFAA because, since i was accepted and attended the Marie Walsh Program, I am automatically placed into the intermediate judging, where approx. only 20% of the original applicants (usu. 8000) are judged --> HUGE advantage for me

Work Experience: I worked for 2 years, about 2-4 hours a week at North Shore Animal Hospital

Teacher's Rec: AMAZING. one from USH teacher, and one from AP chem teacher which should be absolutely shining

Essays: On the Common App, I'm gonna write about art (more personal and specific than that). and on individual essays, write about my work experience at the animal hospital and how it affected me

Supplements: Portfolio that was judged a being very solid and amazing in National Portfolio Day

Besides Art, I am also deeply in passion with medicine and and ESPECIALLY chemistry (subtopic: Gases).

If not a famous artist, my second career goal (which is EXTREMLEY ambitious) would be to become an anesthesiologist

Please tell me my chances for:
Yale (EA)
Brown
Cornell
RISD
Williams
Stanford (not sure if im applying there)
Carnegie Mellon
Wesleyan
Johns Hopkins
******PLEASE suggest colleges for me that are matches/reaches/safeties

***and please realize that i AM going to raise my SAT score. i have tremendously improved my writing, and most of my math errors were due to careless mistakes which i can now catch

sorry i took so long. thanks

If that GPA is way too low. If we only consider 9th+, then that's a 3.5~3.6. SAT is below average for all the schools you listed, and SAT IIs are mediocre at best as well. Your ECs and awards are very considerable, but that GPA is really going to hold you down. Even if you get your SATs up to 2100~2200+, I don't foresee any of those on your list becoming matches or anything more less than a slight reach.

Yale: Reach
Brown: Reach
Cornell: Reach (Slight Reach if you do your SAT up)
Stanford: Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Slight Reach
Johns Hopkins Low Reach (Slight Reach if you do your SAT up)

^ thanks. any suggestions on how to maximize my chances (besides the obvious SATS)

im planning to get all A/A+'s first report card for senior year s i can submit that in as well. im working really hard

Good school, decent test scores, + he's an Asian that is great at ART.

I'd say in everywhere.

In at RISD. I like the idea of Williams and think that top ranked liberal arts colleges will be excited about you. Same with Wesleyan. JHU- yes. Look at U Chicago, U Rochester, Vanderbilt. Carnegie Mellon sounds like a good fit, because they support both the sciences and arts strongly. The Ivies are unpredictable for everybody. Your achievements in art may get you in, but who knows. How about Boston University as a safety- it has an art school as well as everything else. George Washington may be another good safety. If you need financial aid, make that a top consideration in your list.

^ thanks alot. that helped

and i thought about Uchicago, but its rigid curriculum scared me O_O

anyone else?

I don't agree with your statement that Hunter College is more prestigious than Stuyvesant. Granted, Stuyvesant might have some Hunter rejects in its school, but many of the people there want to go. I'd say Hunter and Stuyvesant are about the same level.

And please do not use Stuyvesant's name in comparison to Hunter. I'm pretty sure the AdComs can figure out that Hunter is better or worse, no need to compare it to Stuyvesant.

Also, can you show me some statistics regarding your Hunter vs Stuyvesant comparison?

^ well for the graduating class of 2007, 41% of the seniors of hunter were accepted into the ivy league

and overall roughly 75% were accepted into the top 25 schools in the US

Better than Stuyvesant?

What are you, TJ?

whats TJ? o___O

and even without the graduation statistics, we have a MUCH better student to teacher ratio, and guidance counselor to student ratio than stuyvesant

Our humanities are also arguably stronger (shown through Scholastic Writing Awards)

Thomas Jefferson High School in Northern VA.

im just saying, im sick of EVERYONE saying that stuyvesant is the best high school in the city.

and people DO say that often.

and it is SO untrue since there's hunter, and also the ivy prepatory schools

I usually always hear Thomas Jefferson, the magnet program at Montgomery Blair, Stuyvesant, Bronx, and Phillip Exeter among mentionings of the most elite high schools on the east coast.

^ exactly.

noone mentions Hunter, and Even surprisingly, no one mentions collegiate. they have a 50% ivy feeder percentage yearly and theyre affiliated and well known by every top university in the nation

Stuyvesant, besides his prestigious name (which it should not receive), has a MUCH lower percentage of students admitted to top universities, and a much worse teacher/counselor to student ratio

Stanford doesn't look at grade 9 marks, so that could help you a little.

thanks...thats a good thing. lol

bump up my post

anyone please?
