I'm stressing, I need advice!

So, I’ve signed up for the Jan 23rd SAT. This would be my third time taking it (if I take it).
The first time, I got a 2010 CR: 640 M: 690 W: 680
The second time, I got 1990 CR: 590 M: 690 W: 710
So, super-score is 2040 CR: 640 M: 690 W: 710.
I really really wanted to get at least a 2200 so I signed up a 3rd time. I thought I would study during winter break but I didn’t. Now I’m thinking, should I take it again, or should I just use these scores and hope for the best. I also don’t want the fact that I’m taking the test 3 times to work against me. So, should I just stick to the two and leave it at that, or do you guys think, studying my ass off the next two weeks and trying to get a higher score would be a better idea? Give me honest advice here please, don’t screw me over. Also, I realize that the CC people are way more competitive than the regular applicant pool (or so I think) so keep that in mind too when (if) answering. Thanks.

Honestly I feel your SATs are fine and unless you feel over compelled to take them again I wouldn’t, it’s you senior year and you’ve done them twice you deserve a break. You’re right, a lot of people here have scores that make me feel very under competitive as well but in the end I can alomst promise you your admission decision wouldn’t change because you went up twenty or thirty points in each section. When I was at the Brown info. session I remember the guy telling us that the SATs are looked at and all but they’re not that important he said. He said we probably wouldn’t believe him but that it was true. Well my scores aren’t that great so I choose to believe him :). Your scores are good, great if they weren’t in the uber competitive Ivy pool, I think you’ll be fine.

I don’t know you but i have to say after reading that reply: I love you! haha thanks, that’s really reassuring, and yeah i’ve decided not to take them again, i even spoke to my mom and she was like yeah forget about it. don’t stress. and maybe according to CC my scores aren’t good, but honestly, with respect to my school, they’re pretty damn good (not to blow my own horn/trumpet whatever the saying is) so yeah. thanks though! :D

Don’t worry about SAT’s. I talked to an admissions officer from another school and they said that gpa comes first, then your extracurriculars to see that you’re not a book worm and that you make use of you time, then essays, then recs, then SATs. I didn’t do so well on my SATs either, but I’m not going to worry. Everyone has a legit argument saying that its test that doesn’t measure intelligence and all bs.

It’s not that simple. ^

I took the SAT three times, and everything worked out for me. Generally I hear that three times is the limit. If the rest of your application is really solid, don’t bother though.

You might want to take a look at this page: [Brown Admission: Facts & Figures](<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University)

It shows that the SAT is important but obviously not the deciding factor.
