Um, yeah. I have no idea. Admissions people are weird. I just applied on a whim....I didn't expect to get in. Now I am seriously considering it after finding out that it is a really good school. Hm. :/

Yeah Jarrett! You are right, ur stats suck big time. I don´t understand ether hoe or why you were accepted!! Maybe they knew about all those rejections and they just felt pity! and yes, you are rgiht, you are lucky ! People with great more stats were placed on the waitlist...huh!

Well u were accepted, I'll just think it will funny to see you survive in UChi...i mean with that past! I doubt u r used to making any efforts. Good luck (u`ll need it!)

What bothers me is not that you are using this forum to flaunt, but that you are SO SUPERFICIAL.

I really don't think someone as boa****l as you really deserves to go to U Chicago. You'd save everyone the trouble of having to get to know you.

If the school were ranked 80th and were not as well known, would you consider it? I highly doubt it, so please do NOT go based on prestige.

Er...well, it sucks that you think that I'm superficial. That's one thing I've tried to avoid being for all of my life. I was merely stating that I didn't know UChicago's academic record and prestige until AFTER I had applied. I've researched it a lot and have found that it is indeed a wonderful school. Anyway, like I said earlier, I really didn't mean to sound like a pretentious snob. I seriously am not. Like I said in the other thread, my other motive for posting my stats was to help out some people I know who really want to get in. I guess I just wasn't thinking about how some people might construe my post. I'm not a bad person, and I'm REALLY sorry I've made a bad first impression. :/

Why did you apply if you hadn't researched it beforehand? Or did you just take your copy of US News and World Report and apply to anything in the top 20?

I applied because I had heard through the grapevine that it's a really good institution for people wanting to get a career in education, and that's what I wanna do. :)

Now I'm confused. You want to go into "education" - what sort? HS teacher? Some sort of Professor? In that case what difference does it make what undergrad you go to? For a career in education good graduate school matters more than anything else.

I'm surprised that you could spend $60 and the time and effort to apply to a school you didn't research. Did you do that with all of your schools? Or just the ones you didn't want to go to?

I want to be a college professor, actually. I applied back in November, and I guess I wasn't thinking clearly. I applied to five schools - I was rejected from two and was accepted to three. Three of them were in my state, and two were outside. You're right -- I probably should have invested more time in researching, but all of the schools to which I applied have different "atmospheres." Some are really academic, a few others are more party-oriented. But yeah...I never really thought "Oh, I don't want to go here, but I'll just apply anyway." I left all schools to which I applied open as an option. :)
