I'm taking Bio. As a Senior. Even though I got 5 on AP Bio test.

A quick summary of what happened:

I have never took Bio in high school. Instead, I took Life Science in 10th grade, a non-lab and non-college prep class.

Because of a scheduling conflict, I had to drop APES and am left with only 6 classes. A 7th class is optional, but I still want to take 1 more class. I wanted Anatomy & Physiology, but there's a scheduling problem with that as well.

Therefore, my counselor suggested that, even though I took the AP Bio test in 11th grade and got a 5, I still take the Bio class (can't take AP Bio because there will be another scheduling problem!) because colleges want to see a lab-based life science.

The teacher I got is known for her multiple-page essay papers, harsh grading, and harsh personality. For me, however, it's a complete waste of time because I learned everything already.

I will feel awkward in the class because 1) I'm a Senior and 2) I've already learned everything in the class.

So taking all that into account, I have 2 options:

Drop it because I already learned everything. Will colleges thing I'm just being lazy by taking Bio even though I already took the AP Bio test (in this case, should I report taking AP Bio? I really want to, to show them I have knowledge of Bio)?

Keep it because colleges want to see a life science lab class.

Or you can just make a notice of the fact that you got a 5 on AP Bio…

You could drop it and take a life sciences class online, at a local community college, do dual enrollment or something.

I got a 4 :(

I would say… keep it. I don’t know if colleges will think you’re being lazy just because you’re taking bio even after you’ve taken the ap exam (they can’t make that assumption).

I mean, if you didn’t take it, then you’re just left without a life science lab class.

Do you need to take it in order to graduate or to just look better to colleges?

EDIT: I’d suggest what speedsolver said, but isn’t it past the deadline to sign up for courses at most CCs?

@speedsolver: good idea! The deadline of my local community college (PCC) for application is August 27th so I can still apply. But I’m not familiar with the process and I don’t know which Biology class to take.

FUDGE. None of their Bio classes are in the afternoon

Try actually calling up some of the offices of the colleges you’re looking at/worried about or go on their boards on CC and asking people there. I’m sure one or both of those places would be more than willing to answer your question
