My school has a similar system with Princeton University. Out of the people I know who have taken classes there, almost all have gotten into Princeton, and almost all who chose not to go are at Harvard or Yale. One went to Stern, and two went to Carnegie Mellon (those three went for math).

I would expect similar results from people who do the same thing at your school. Is that true? If so, you should be fine at Columbia as long as the rest of your app is competitive.

thank you guys. Just to add to this thread... Yes, Calc III isn't a VERY demanding course, but it was taught by a very prestigious professor at a very prestigious university, which counts for something. I took a GRADUATE level Probability course in the fall term at Columbia this year, got an A, and had the professor write me a recommendation. If that doesn't get me in, I don't know what will. I enjoyed the class so much though that even if I don't get in it was still a great experience.
