I'm taking the SAT Subject test late; will it affect my early admission plan?

I'm a college-bound senior who is looking to apply early to either Cornell or Carnegie Mellon. Both of these schools require that I take certain SAT Subject Tests to enter the program that I want. However, I did not get a chance to take them last year, so I signed up to take the tests on October 4th.

Unfortunately, the due date for all required materials necessary for admission for early admission is November 1st. I put both of these colleges down on the "Where to send scores" section, but I'm extremely concerned about whether or not they will arrive to the school that I choose on time.

What do you recommend? Should I include a note in my early application about it? Or will it arrive on time? Is it just a lost cause? Do you have another suggestion?

rush delivery

read the school websites .. october ones usually if not always reaches in time for ED.. however, if you miss October ones and you do it in November than you should include a note and rush delivery. However for october i am almost sure you are fine.

I think some schools, even ED, allow the November ones. You might just want to call them up and ask them in case (you might say that you can't afford one, or there was no places left to take them, etc) Or maybe you had to take SAT I, then SAT II.

Well, I looked up the admission info on Cornell's website, and it said that the SAT II had to be taken "no later than November". So I think I'm good there. Carnegie Mellon wasn't as specific; it just said to take the SAT II by the fall of my senior year

I believe there is an answer to this on the college board web site - you can request (and pay) for faster score reporting for both Oct and Nov esp for ED applications.

Both Cornell and Carnegie Melon (and almost all schools that have ED or EA with a November app deadline) take the SAT or SAT IIs from October by regular delivery and the SAT IIs from November by regular delivery. The app deadlline is not the submission of test scores deadline.
