I'm thinking of applying....

i am a senior and i have no idea where i can get in with my stats. here they are:

-about 1320 on the sat (2010 on new one)
-captain of varsity sport for couple years
-involved in 2 varsity sports all 4 years
-200 miscellaneous volunteer hours
-top 20% at competitive private school
-founder and president of minority awareness club (though i am upper-middle class, non-URM)
-latin club
-several athletic meets with OK placement

i am from texas

Bump up the SAT score, take 2-3 SAT IIs, make sure that you get good/great grades first sem of senior year, write above average essays and I think you'll have a shot at Midd.

thanks...........

also i think it will help slightly that you are from texas

what?? why??

I think Sean540 is referring to the fact that, among other things, campuses are also looking for geographic diversity. The first place most Texans think to apply probably isn't Vermont. That said, I think there are a decent number of Texans in this year's class already. Your state may give you a bit of a boost, but not the sort of boost a student from Alaska or Hawaii might get (and here too, you must still be a competent student!). At any rate, I wish you all the best!

Depending on what sports you play and how good you are, Middlebury might even consider recruiting you to play those sports, although keep in mind that Midd does not offer athletic scholarships. The fact that you don't have APs may not help, but if you can raise your SAT scores (also consider the ACT and SAT IIs), write excellent essays and get good recommendations, you have a good shot.
