I'm very stressed

Thank you! @sunnyschool What about my other schools? There’s Berkshire, PA, Deerfield, and NMH

@ephimerally while there’s no guarantee for anything, you’ve earned some very respectable scores…now you just have to see if any/which of these schools feel you are a good fit! Congrats! You should be proud!

Your scores are good enough to keep you in the running… but it is the rest of the package that will make you stand out.

(Also: Remember that flute and saxophone are more “useful” to a school’s music program than piano… )

Since you need FA, be sure to apply to some schools with high admit rates, where you will be a strong candidate. I think your scores are excellent, but if you are applying for FA, then you need to add schools that have lower SSAT averages/ higher admit rates/ good percentage FA.

None of your schools are safety - if you are sure you want to be at BS, I’d add some schools.

Unless you are going the FP route, then you are ok but I still might add 1-2 schools.

@sunnyschool is right. If you need FA, you will need some extra schools with lower SSAT averages and/or higher admit rates. It’s just the way things are…

@sunnyschool @buuzn03 now that I think about it, would a 85%ile be low for an Asian? I heard that some schools only accept Asians if they score like ten points higher than their average.

^I don’t think being Asian has much to do with it. Needing FA and not being a sought-after athlete would have more to do with things than that. FA is your biggest hurdle, so just be sure to cast a wide net that includes schools that have average SSATs at or below that number—- you’ll be fine. You are almost there!!! Good luck!

I don’t really know @ephimerally

hey, i’m an Asian who needs FA too- stoked about the tougher odds we’ve got to go through!

the stress is all too real though. i finished my application two days ago, but the waiting game is arguably even more stressful, since there’s nothing to do during that period. new hobby?

Same! The waiting game is real…

Yes! We have to wait a whole month! Oh god, the tension is going to eat me up.

On a side note, what schools are you applying to? @SeattleDreamer @willmo

The best thing you can do is stay busy and positive. I’ve been on CC for many years now and while this site can be super helpful leading up to the app deadline and post M10… the wait time now thru M10 can be brutal and somewhat unproductive. It can also be an unnecessary distraction ( cough ) when you need to be keeping your grades up, too. Hey- don’t get mad- I’m a Mom! You should also look for fun things to do because you’ve worked hard on your apps and deserve a break!!

One thing you guys can do is maybe start a 2018 Support thread over on Cafe so the suffering masses can visit from time to time … Just a suggestion ( of course ) but it’s a nice way to share jitters and offer support to one another leading up to the big day ( M10 ) . It has been done before and it’s usually a great outlet for kids waiting to learn their fate. All the best and good luck.

M10 will be here before you know it…

( She says… )

Might be a good time to delve into Samuel Beckett’s cheery play, “Waiting for Godot.” There are similarities.

Nice, @ChoatieMom . You have a bright future in Grief Counseling .

I just pulled the bandaid off and there’s a new “Freakout” thread over on Cafe. Knock yourself out, Kids and know we’re always here for you.

@PhotographerMom were you able to link Le Chic to the thread for apropos background music? I figure if I can’t get that song out of my head, none of the rest of you should either!
