Try the University of Washington....

Very, very good school.

Agree on U Wash....great campus IMO....take some time to stroll thru it.

heard the U of Wash dorms really really suck
it was named like top 10 worst dorms by princeton review

UPS in Tacoma

I LOVE THE UW!!!!

The Quad is gorgeous in the spring...

I planned to go there, but then we moved to MN, and I probably can't afford out-of-state tuition. But I still might consider it, although now I'm looking more at the East Coast...

Anyways, yeah, the UW is amazingly cool. Definitely visit.

Haven't heard anything about bad dorms, and I've been there a few times and my sister went there til we moved, though she lived off-campus at home and then the UCU (great place to live if you're a Christian ;) )

I wouldn't put much faith on the PR ranking. UW has one of the most beautiful campuses especially during the spring with the cherry blossom. The dorms are just fine. I have visited four of them so I know this from first hand. Of course it depends on which campus you are comparing it with. I'd say that the UW dorms are on par, if not better than most of the state u's.

UW is campus is beautiful if you love concrete and stark brick facades. Although the cathedral-like Odegaard Library is attractrive, you'll neither sleep or attend classes there.

Also, if you are a non-resident, apply to the UW only if your grades are stellar. Thoroughly check out the individual UW schools and department admission requirements. Yes, similar to other public universities, UW requires its underclassmen to apply and be admitted to individual programs. Even for underclassmen with good grades, admission to said schools is no sure thing.

If your upcoming stay in Washington permits, drive over the mountains to explore Washington State University in Pullman. Might as well check out U of Oregon, Lewis and Clark College, Williamette University and George Fox University. You probably already are familiar with Reed College.

LakeWashington, do you like U of Oregon better than UW?

Can't really say, Dstark. Both have solid departments. I do believe that UW is somewhat overrated. UW suffers from an inflexible administration. Students from both schools describe positive experiences. Eugene is a happening town.

If you are premed (or prevet) or into music, PLU is worth checking out.

Too bad you cannot visit Washington University.....because its in ST LOUIS! :(

I'm not from washington so i'll be out-of-state if i choose to go there, any more good private schools?

Surprised no one mentioned Whitman College. Check that out if you have time to go over to Walla Walla.

Is there any breakdown of admissions criteria for UW-Seattle like this one http://www.oar.uiuc.edu/prospective/ugrad/ugchances.html?

walla walla is 5 hours away...there aren't that many private universities in Seattle, the only one I can think of is Seattle University.

seattle pacific university is a little smaller than Seattle U on lower Queen Anne ( Methodist I think)

University of Puget sound and Pacific Lutheran University are in Tacoma - south of Seattle
