Im Woried Im Going To Fail A Class

I’m currently taking a genetics coarse and we have about 4 weeks left (which equates to only 4 more classes) . This is my first year in collage and so far this is the only class I’m really struggling with. I’m currently failing the class and I’m really nervous as I obviously don’t want to fail. So far all semester this has been one of those classes that even though I’m trying, my grades are not improving and going down. At the moment I have a F, which ive never had in a class before. All that’s left for me to try and get my grades up are a few more home works, a lab book grading, and a cumulative final. I know I have low grades so I’m trying harder to get higher grades on things like homework, and somehow I just got some of the lowest scores so far when I was trying to do better. On top of that the home works are 20% of the total grade, and since its done all online there’s no real chance to make up any half points or have any bonus questions. At least my professor will be dropping our lowest test but that’s only 10% of our grade negated. I’m not doing anything different compared to my other classes, but I have a B’s in everything else. I’ve gone to every class and done every lab except when I was sick, ive done every home work and test but I’m just having bad luck.
Being a science class, the coarse it self is very expensive, 900 something. So if I fail that will be another large chunk of money to pay, and its a required class for my major so I cant not take it again.
Any advice on how to avoid failure? I have to get at least 10 or 11 points to get a C so at least I will pass. Do I just study like crazy and try and get really good grades for my last test and final, and the rest of the home works? Should I talk to my teacher about my grades?

Can you still late withdraw without affecting your full-time status? I had to do that with a course I was on pace to fail my freshman year; retook it the following semester and got a B- under a different professor. A withdraw would have much less effect on your GPA and grad school applications than a D or F.

Are you sure there isn’t curved? Many of my science courses have had a significant curve. For some classes a 75 is a B+ :confused:

@danfer91 I’ve had courses where a 40 or 50 is a B.

@Sabina88 if you know you’re going to fail or get a D, dropping might not be a bad idea. But if you’re really borderline, you should talk to your professor on things you can do. Can you make up the labs for which you were sick?
