MSU is getting very competitive these days, and I'm worried that I won't be accepted. I have a 3.35 GPA and a 25 on the ACT (which I plan to retake). I'm captain of mutiple varsity sports teams as well as drum major in the marching band, I'm also in key club, on student council, and have maintained a job throughout all of high school. Almost every course I've taken in high school has been either AP, honors, or accelerated, and I also have three years of a language under my belt. My parents are telling me that it'll be a close call, but I just want to hear the opinions of people who may know a little more about the admissions process.

If you’re in MI, hearing from well-meaning guessers on your thread here do not even come close to what your HS guid counselor can tell you.

Indeed, you’re on the bubble with both GPA and Test scores being the most important parts of your application. The 25/75th ACT percentiles are 23 and 28. But your GPA is troubling. Only 32% of students had less than a 3.5GPA. Look here: http://opb.msu.edu/institution/documents/CDS_2013-2014.pdf

ACT is fine…my son was a freshman this year and most of his friends got in with 24’s. His roommate had a 17 but that’s another story. Our friend’s kid just got in with a 23. You didn’t say if your GPA was weighted or not.

I think you get in
