I currently have a 28 on my ACT and a 3.353 GPA at the end of my junior year. I’m taking the ACT again soon and it may go up by a point or two. I want to be a major in either music therapy or music education. My first choice is St. Olaf College but I’m also looking at UW Madison, UM Twin Cities, Luther College, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern. What do you think my chances are of getting in? I’m also a drama club officer and have been since my freshman year, was on student council for two years, participated in all state choirs every year, has had large parts in every school production since sophomore year, plays cello and guitar, teaches Sunday school (Lutheran), and is fluent in French.
My advice to you:
Give up on Vanderbilt and Northwestern. You won’t get in. You can apply to one of them as a pipe dream, if you are willing to put in the work.
Please find more solid matches and safeties. Your schools don’t look very safe, and it’s not likely you’ll get in. For now, I think you should focus on retaking the ACT, and building a more sensible (financially, academically, socially) college list from there.
