b/c ASIANS TRY TOO HARD AND ARE TAKING OVER!!! WELL TAKING OVER THE UC'S AT LEAST

You shouldn't care what people think of you and your car... seriously. Do you really care what people think about you? You should be confident enough to deal with that. So what if people think you're a spoiled rich brat? Prove them wrong. If they pass judgement it's their loss.

... I wouldn't go with an S2000. They're high cost to maintain even though they're honda. I REALLY wanted one until a few mechanics and previous owners talked me out of it.

I'd go with the Z. I have an 05 Altima. Nissans are GREAT cars. Made well, cheap parts if anything happens. Not to mention the interiors are nice, good audio, good gas and decent power. Price for a new or used one either way is pretty good.

im amazed at how many people are so insecure about themselves that they need to know what kind of car/clothes/bookbag/hairstyle/computer/whatever they should have to make sure they look cool.

but to answer the OP, no one will care what kind of car you drive unless you make a big deal out of it, then they might think your a rich spoiled brat.

You might want to check out the infiniti g35 coupe. That car is wow. Amazing car.

^^^^^^^^ Agreed x alot. I was oh so close to getting the 05 G35x over the Altima :/ Great car.

I'd recommend one of the following:

-Volvo S40
-Acura TSX
-Lexus IS350

Also, I'd get a sedan if I were you. Coupes are impractical since the second seat is usually a joke and is tough to access, and if you want to put lots of stuff/people back there it's tough.

I find it funny that you can be "choosy" when buying a car...and you're going to be a freshman in college! I say go for a cheap certified vehicle that you can pay for in full. It'll last you through college (cause it comes with a warranty), and you won't have car payments that you still have to pay after college.

That was my method...I got a certified '02 Honda Accord (w/ just 25k miles!) about 2 months ago. It was $5,000 off for hail damage (and the damage wasn't that bad actually) and I paid for half and my parents paid for half (graduation gift). Pretty nice I think for a first car!

I only know one teenager who drives/drove a BMW. My boyfriend had an '89, and 1.5 of the cylinders didn't even compress, so it drove awful. He replaced it with a Chevy Cavalier...yeah...

wow looloo, racist much?

Humm I just have one question lol. Why does it matter if he is asian and has a Z4??

How about you get a regular car and use the rest of the money to help pay for your ****ing college bill?

....owned...

"S2k without a doubt"

How did I know you would say that...either the S2000 or the 350Z. But since Nissan started using all of its ideas on infiniti, it sorta takes down the prestige of the Z when you see a ****en luxury sedan that looks just like the Z parked right next to it

Given this money is mostly coming form his parents I'm assuming the college cost is not an issue ... but I'm still mostly with you. Why not by an OK used car and use the rest of the money to ... take a trip somewhere you've never been .. buy some skiis ... take fluying lessons ... there are tons of other fun things I'd spend money on other than a spiffy car. Along a more practical line you also could start saving some bucks for your first condo or house ... or maybe donate some money to those less fortunate.

All car companies do that chief.....

yea I know...but not to the follow up of a legendary sports car....Ford didnt do it for their new GT....and they dont own other companies that make cars that look like Mustangs

So is the general opinion to go for the car I want and that its my attitude, rather than my wheels, that will determine the spoiled tag?

Personally, I would get a nice, reliable, affordable, new car with a great warranty and put the rest of the money towards a nice trip or something.

If I end up at Wesleyan or Colgate, where they DO allow freshmen to bring their cars to campus WITHOUT A FEE (check on that because places like Penn State will let you but charge you like $1k and you're not guarenteed parking), I'll end up bringing my mom's old 98 Toyota Camry that I'll be inheriting for senior year. Yes, it's 9 years old, but guess what? it runs and will run forever. And consider how my mom's going to quit her job after I graduate high school and go somplace to get her PhD, I can pretty much guarentee that we'll have no money when I go to college, unless my dad starts making vast quantities of cash or his university pays a part of the tuition.

Of course if I end up at a city school like Stern or BU I will NOT be bringing a car.

futurenystudent: You consider a 98 old? I mean, it's certainly not new, but if a car has been taken care of (servicing, oil changes, etc), there should be nothing wrong with a 98. Heck, until I got my car a few months ago, our 98 Lexus (mind you, used when we bought it) was our youngest car! (We also had an 87 Camry (ran great still!) and a 95 Nissan pickup).
