Immediate Decision Day?

I got an email inviting me to Immediate Decision Day at Purchase. I have the bare minimum GPA needed to attend (and that's weighted). My SAT scores are significantly higher than the minimum, but would it hurt my chances of getting in to attend? Would I stand a better chance if I was just lumped in with all of the other Early Action applicants? I'm going a little crazy with anticipation, so getting my decision on December 4th or 11th would be pretty cool, but I'm not sure if it will hurt my chances. Should I give it a shot?

I’d say you should go. I think it looks good to go to the Immediate Decision Day because it shows that you are determined to go there. You will be able to talk to people on the admissions committee and they will get to know your personality. Technically, this can either help or hurt you but if you have a good personality, it should help. I’ll be there for the December 4th one, so maybe I’ll see you there!

We got the invitation too and responded by registering online. A message flashed back, saying something like “Do not make travel plans…an admissions counselor will be contacting you within several days…” That was two and a half weeks ago and we have heard nothing from Purchase. Has anyone received a confirmation of any kind?

I received a phone call the other day confirming. However, based on what you are saying, I probably registered after you did so you might want to try giving them a call.

I received a phone call a few days ago also, and you registered before I did.

Has anyone been able to get through on the phone to a real person at Purchase recently? All we get is a recorded message saying don’t call, check online. They have not responded to an email either. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I got through, on the phone, about three weeks ago. Friday afternoon I sent an e-mail but have not received a response.

Today Purchase called to confirm. Good luck to All!

My son was able to reach an admissions person this morning to have them update his online details. Turns out his application was complete as of the end of October – they just hadn’t updated it online. So now we wait to hear… we’re in California, so no chance of attending immediate decision day…

Was anyone able to download the article that is required reading for this event? Purchase sent only half a link.

Today our daughter was accepted at Immediate Decision Day. Overall, the event was a great experience and I recommend it for parents and and invited students. Purchase College has undertaken major aesthetic improvements to its modernist campus and the place is beginning to look quite beautiful. The college’s faculty and staff are brilliant, its cultural life rich. Our daughter is looking forward to attending next year.

I was accepted too! I’m so excited. Purchase is definitely high up on my list!
