I'm a big disease nerd, so I'd like to go to a school with a decent biology program that allows me to specialize in working with diseases. UCSD is my top choice right now, but I'm looking for some back ups. What other UC's have a good program?

UCLA - MMIG

is a better fit.

Ya thats like me. I just transferred here to UCLA and I am an MIMG major. it stands for microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics. I advise you look into it. It is pretty interesting and next quarter I will be taking a virology course. Ill let you know how it goes if I remember when its all over.

Alrighty, thanks. Are there at least two other schools I can look at for backups that have a decent program?

Is that an actual major that you can pick when trying to transfer to a school? I don’t see it anywhere on assist.org.

Also anyone know if UCSB is any good for this sort of thing?

UCSB and UCSD also have Molecular Biology programs, as do several CSUs: Fresno, Sacramento, Northridge, San Jose State, and Long Beach.

U of AZ, U of WA, and Oregon State also have Bacteriology programs.
