<p>My uncle is a professor at Yale, and I'm wondering how much having him write me a letter of recommendation would help me get in. I have a 33 ACT and 3.98 unweighted gpa, but Yale would definitely be a reach for me. He is a music theory prof, which doesn't relate to my major. Also, would a letter of rec from him help me at a different Ivy such as Brown? Thanks.</p>

<p>If he were your parent or guardian, it’d be a different matter altogether due to faculty kids preferences.</p>
