Impact of Freshman Mistakes?

Hey CC, Freshman year didn't go so well for me. I got a 3.9 first semester, but a 3.3 second semester due to distracting family circumstances. My grades have an upward trend from there though, never dropping below a 3.5 UW. This past semester (as a junior) I got a 3.8 UW with 3 AP's.

So my question is, will this significantly impact the impressions of my transcript, GPA, etc?
the rest of my stats are as follows.

GPA: 3.94 W
3.61 UW

ACT: 32 Composite (first time, retaking it in April to hopefully get a 34+)

Taking the SAT in March (210 PSAT)

AP Courses: AP World (3), AP US History, AP English 11, AP Physics B

Im also registered to be taking AP Stats, AP European History, AP French, AP English 12, AP Government, and AP Econ next year.

Honors Courses: Honors Algebra 1, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, Honors English 9

EC's: 3rd year member of Student Senate (some leadership roles, participated in All State, 3 letters)
3 year Varsity Athlete (1st team all-state academics, ranked 7th nationally, 2x State Champion, Captain)
10+ years athletics outside school (4x state champions)

National Honor Society (lettered)
National French Honor Society
National English Honor Society
Academic Letter

100+ hours community service
Summer/part time job in a Physicians office (office assistant, filling charts, etc)

I'm planning on applying to mostly high level schools (top choice as of now is Claremont Mckenna), so if necessary i may be able to retake classes next year.
Thank You!

bump…

Your UW GPA is still good, plus you have greats ECS, plus good sports awards. You’re also involved in a lot of honors societies. You can still go to a lot of places.

Good luck!
Could you take a look at my ECs? : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1606004-my-extracurriculars-good-enough-schools-like-northwestern-unc-gw-jhu.html

Bump for other opinions.

Like specifics for cmc?

Your UW GPA is still great, so I don’t know what you’re worried about. Besides, if outside circumstances impacted your schoolwork, your guidance counselor can address that in his/her recommendation (or you can explain it in the additional notes section of the Common App). This happens to a lot of people, so have no fear!

If you can afford an UC, try UCs… they will look past freshman year.

You should be ok. When you apply, most schools give you a place to tell them about any circumstances that affected your grades. Do that.

If you don’t mind me asking, in what sport are you ranked 7th Nationally? Just curious.

Soccer, our team finished 7th among all high schools last season. It was really cool, the National Guard did a whole presentation for their Tour of Champions :)

And thanks everybody for the reassurance.

Catria, I was looking at a few UC’s, but I think Ill fit better at a smaller liberal arts school.

Freshman mistakes typically don’t hurt that much, and it’s not like you had a 2.0 GPA.

Varies depending on the school.
