Knowing that the bioengineering program at Penn is hugely popular compared to other majors in SEAS, how much effect does applying to BioE have on admissions?
Chemical and Biological Engineering as a major would also suit my interests but I'm not too enthusiastic about that particular department at Penn, I find little to talk about in my Why Penn essay.
Overall:
for bioengineering: hard, but I mentioned many specific programs, courses, activities that connect to my personal goals in my essay
for ChemE: easier(?), but subpar essay
The deadline is close, but I have two versions of the essays at hand and just want some additional info on how impacted the BioE major is. Also stats of previous regular admits to BioE would help too.
Thanks <3

BioE has the most students enrolled, and the most applicants. So hopefully the proportions within each major in SEAS in relatively consistent, so it shouldn’t matter which one you apply to.
