How hard would it be to get accepted in to CS next year once its impacted?

Also, Im on the boarder line of getting a B or a C in my calc class. Its a pre-requisite for CS major. I need a 92% on the final to get a B. Should I flunk the final and retake it next semester or should I keep a C which means it will bring down my GPA significantly? How will UC look at replaced grades?

If you’re applying for the Fall 2014 quarter the UCs will only take into account up to Fall 2013 grades for admission. If you mean applying for Fall 2015 quarter, then its up to you. If you take the D or F and retake it for an A then the UCs disregard the failing grade and it doesnt count in your gpa.

From what i understand, if you flunk it and retake it, your CC with replace THEIR GPA with the new course BUT anywhere you apply to will average the two grades together. That is UNLESS you can get academic renewal but usually that requires a certain wait time.

^Unless the policy has changed very recently, that’s wrong. The UC’s have had a policy of academic forgiveness and will replace a non-passing grade with your first passing attempt regardless of your CC’s policy. As long as both grades show up on your transcript you don’t have to use academic renewal, although it could help you later if you plan on applying to grad schools.

After my final, I end up with a C in the class. My overall gpa is now 3.28.
I did apply this year just because CS is gonna be impacted in 2015, but I don’t have all my major prep done. So Im mainly aiming for next year. Assuming I get all A in spring and next fall, I would end up getting 3.6 overall and 3.7 in my major prep courses. Im planning on doing internship over the summer as well. I would like to know how are my chances since CS will be impacted?
