Impacted Major?! Chance Me!

I’m applying as a Civil Engineer (which is an impacted major) I have to fill out a supplemental application later. Because it is an impacted major, does this mean I will have a bad chance of getting in?

GPA

  • Total Unweighted GPA [3.55]
  • UC GPA (10th-11th) [3.57]

Test Scores

  • SAT Reasoning Tests
    ----Test #1 [640 CR, 670 M, 600 W] = 1910
    ----Test #2 [650 CR, 680 M, 580 W] = 1910
    ----Test #3 [640 CR, 640 M, 620 W] = 1900

SAT 2 Subject Tests
----Chemistry [730]
----Biology [700]
----Math Level 2 [710]

Extracurriculars

  • Violin for 8 years (in orchestra)
  • Table Tennis for 5 years (joining Tournaments)

Other Info

  • Asian(Chinese)
  • First Generation Student
  • Born in California, Resident of California
  • Go to a competitive public high school

Your SATs loook good, your gpa is not too bad. The other stuff doesn’t matter. I’d say a 60 percent chance of getting in.

“I have to fill out a supplemental application later.”

Isn’t the deadline 1/10/11?

@bl0wnidea

I think they only take into consideration your CW and M portion of the SAT. As long as the sum is greater than 1300 and your unweighted GPA is in the 3.5 area, you are a fit at CPP. Are you trying Cal Poly-SLO and the UCs?

Me:

Yeah I am also applying to Cal Poly SLO and the UCs

Good Luck to you

im applying to pomona and slo, both for an animal science major

with a 3.6 gpa and 28 act/ 1820 sat… do you think i can get into either?

I think you have a good chance because I got into comp eng with:
3.09 gpa
1860 sat
0 extracurriculars (other than some volunteer work)
1 AP class

^WOW!!! You got provisionally accepted with such a low GPA into an impacted major and unaware of the fact that the SATs are only out of 1600 and that CPP doesn’t look at extracurriculars.

The average for last year’s class was a GP of 3.54 and SATs of 1150/1600. Congrats man!

thanks, well i knew it was out of a 1600 scale but i didn’t remember what I got, just checked and it is 1210/1600

Also, you mentioned provisional admit, I just read through the admission email and didn’t see provisional mentioned anywhere, is a provisional admission a different type of admission?

GPA
Weighted : 4.0
Unweighted : 3.81

SAT
1020/1600

Major:Mechanical Engineering

@beli2229

You are well above the average engineering unweighted GPA (3.54), but below the average SAT average (1150/1600). This is for engineering as a whole, btw, mechanical engineering might have higher standards. Good luck.
