Impacted major question!

So I am a first year at UCSD.
I got admitted for physics, but am now an Environmental Engineering major.
I am toying with the idea of mechanical engineering.
I would apply next year, because as of now I do not have all the requirements, mostly the ONE lab I couldn't get into.

My current GPA is 3.87. This will probably go down a bit as classes get more challenging.

So what if I don't get in?

It seems pretty crappy to have to transfer to another school just because my school wouldn't let me become a mechanical engineer.
Just curious, because I knew a second year who tried to transfer to bioengineering, didn't make the cut, and basically her dreams were crushed. I don't want this to be me.

you’re GPA is really high considering you are a first year. The admission process is based on GPA ranking so you should be able to get in.
