Impacted majors?? What does this mean?

I think I heard they are limiting the amount of bio majors that can be accepted into UCSD. Is this what y'all mean by impacted majors? What are the other impacted majors?

how about googling 'ucsd impacted majors' and reading that first?

it means that you are not guaranteed to be accepted to the bio major if you apply to ucsd.

on the converse if you apply to a non-impacted major then you automatically get into the major upon entrance to ucsd.

not necessarily, you can get admitted to your second-choice major ... and i've even heard of people coming in as undeclared even though they declared majors on their application.

UCSD's policy is that you are accepted to the school, then the major. Therefore, it is possible to be accepted, though not to even your first or alternate major (and they will stick you as an undeclared major). This is especially the case for people that indicate engineering majors, as you can be accepted by ucsd but rejected by the engineering school. Again if you haven't indicated an alternate non-engineering major, you'll end up as undeclared.
