can someone explain to me what happens when someone declares "undeclared"on their application. I heard it's realy hard to get into an engineering major if you want to transfer. Waht if you dont make it during your sophomore year? What happens after that? thanks

Haven't you asked this in an earlier thread? Anyways, an undeclared major falls you into many categories.

You can be Undeclared: Engineering, Physical Sciences, L&S, Life Science, etc.
If you decide to switch to engineering major from undeclared, we recommend that you apply as Engineering Undeclared. After a year or so (you take about the same GEs), or even less, when you find out what you want to do, sign a petition form along with an essay, and if approved, you will be in that new engineering major.

If you don't make it past 2nd year, then you will not drop out or become a failure. You might just have to graduate in more than 4 years ..

im guessing that if you dont make it after second year, you apply after your third. safest thing to do, if you're not sure if you want to be engineer or not, is to apply as an engineer. However, most people, after HS, are pretty damn sure whether they want to be engineers or if they want to do something else.

thanks. i asked again cause i was still a bit unsure
