Congratulations Arjun. I am very happy for you. I know it is early days but have you decided between Cornell and Imperial? That is a really tough one.

I really badly want to goto Cornell, cuz I think its a better match...I really love the place and the oppertunities on offer. Ive already payed my $400deposit too.

But, Imperial's so much more cheaper. I mean, 3,000 pounds tuition is nothing compared to 35,000dollars tuition. Living and Dining are roughly the same. Also, I'm yet to recieve my financial aid offer.
So, I'll be saving abt 30,000 dollars yearly if I goto Imperial, for the same quality of education. So, my parents would be a bit more inclined to Imperial.

Also, Ive not totally rejected Cambridge, ive till June 4th to respond to them...but since their education is just as expensive as Cornell's, i'll mostly pass up on it.

I was accepted at Gonville and Caius College. Appaqrently, Trinity's the best, but I had no idea which college is good or bad when I applied, so applied "open".

As for the cost of Living, I have no idea how it is in London. but, Cornell's boarding is $7000 and Imperial's comes out to roughly 3,500pounds, which is roughhly the same.

The reason I ask, is because Ive recieved an offer from the BioEngineering department...but, want to do Electrical.

I'm really not sure. In most cases not but some universities do alow for that to happen. You are really better of asking them.

As far as I know Trinity and King's are the best but also really hard to get into. But as far as college reputation goes it really only matters for people in the UK and some really knowledgeble people abroad. Most people would not even know about the colleges and only a few would know which ones are consideared the best.

I picked the Graduate ones because I had no idea which one to go for as well.

Would Albany really be that expensive? I mean the place not Cornell.

Albany? if you mean where Cornell is, then its in Ithaca.

but, at Cornell we won't leave the campus much cuz meals, boarding and entertainment are all on-campus.

Hows Imperial in that respect? i heard its campus is distributed all over the sity...is that true? cuz I prefer the 1 campus with everything within it sort of concept.

As far as I know Imperial is spread out around London. Its main location is close to Buckingham palace (South Kensington) ,which is a very rich area of the city, I believe your deparmtnet would be there. I think medicine is furter afield.

They just opened a brand new gym which is free for students. Not common in the UK

It is a very city university with no beautiful fields and etc... (kinda like NYU). If you would like a campus, Cornell would be better.

It does have a good amount of internationals. Maybe not LSE numbers but a lot more than the average UK amount

Oh! That sounds soo exciting. I just checked up the rankings and its apparently #5 for Engineering and #4 for Biomedicine.
I'm really confused now. Imperial sounds really good and is affordable...but, Cornell's been my life dream, but its sooo expensive.

It really is a tough one. Look at it on the good side you are really privileged (all that work paid out) to be able to chose between these unis. Any advice on LSE or Cambridge for a Master's degree in a Social Science subject?

But, LSE's very famous here in India. Recently, The Education Times did a report on it even. Trust, me its equally, if not more famous, than Cambridge.

Would you by any chance have the link to the LSE article.

Pss. I love Indian food. My best friend's family comes from Delhi.

You have the best sweets in the world. I love Sohan Papdi, Gulam Jamun, Rasgula (It is like an explosion of water in your mouth) and this other one I can never remember the name of. It is a yellow/orange ball and moist. It is made up of these really small balls. I make my friend bring back loads for me when he goes over.

I actually applied to both. As a post-graduate they do not have the only one college application policy. I will only hear back from Oxford in about a months time.
