Importance of ACT/SAT Essay Scores

<p>How much does UMich look at the essay scores on the ACT and the SAT? I am happy with both of my overall scores on these tests (34 ACT and 2250 SAT), but I feel that my essay score is pretty weak with these scores (8 on both tests). The most frusterating part is that I am usually a pretty strong writer, basically with A's on all of my essays in honors English classes; I was also selected as one of only two juniors at my school to submit my English work for a national competition. I feel that these test scores do not accurately reflect my writing skills.</p>

<p>So, my question is, should I retake the tests in hopes of raising my score on the essay. I am very happy with my other scores, and would rather not spend the extra money, but I would definetly be willing if it would help. Thanks.</p>

<p>Your scores are incredible. What are you worried about? Now be honest, what other schools have you applied to?</p>

<p>I don’t think they consider the essay part of the ACT at all…</p>

<p>and the SAT is factored into your critical writing, so you don’t need to worry bout that</p>
