Importance of EC's for USC Transfers

I'm wondering how important it is to have extra-curriculars for a junior transfer to USC? I'm currently a sophomore and am not involved in any clubs/organizations at all. I volunteer sometimes and plan on volunteering a lot more this year. Also have a light weekend job (14hr/wk) but I'm not sure if that even matters that much. Applying as a Comm major to Annenberg in 2008. Also trying to get an internship this summer.

Stats:
Went to high school overseas.. GPA something like 3.5
Currently attending a California State University
College GPA: 3.97

Any help would be great. Thank you!

I'm in the same situation. But, for what it's worth, when I visited USC on March 13th, I visited a Transfer Information Session and I asked the woman there the same question and she said that it didn't really matter much, that the thing to focus on most is GPA. If anyone has heard the same information or has heard differently, I'd be interested to hear.
