How much do colleges look at/care about fine arts in high school?
For graduation my school requires 1 year in 2 of these 3 categories: world language, vocational/applied arts, and visual/performing arts.
I will be completing 1 year in world language and 1 year in vocational arts this year which will satisfy my graduation requirements but I was wondering if I should take any visual/performing arts in the future.
For colleges, you should take more than one year of a language.
i’m in french 2 and i will be continuing through the rest of high school
this year only satisfies the graduation requirements
I mean don’t take a fine arts class if you’re not passionate for it, like if you don’t think you’ll enjoy it then it’s not worth it. But if you think you’ll enjoy one, then go for it!
Agreed.
Unless you’re applying to a UC, in which case fine arts is required.
World Languages: Look at potential colleges (your state flagship, others) and see what they require. Taking to the 4th level of a language is what is needed (not necessarily 4 years if you start in middle school)
Fine Arts: Also look what is required by colleges
Some state universities require a fine arts credit. Just look at the colleges you’re interested in applying too.
