Or find a school that does not require any foreign language for admission – they do exist. I have a nephew who has taken no language in high school as it was not a requirement for graduation in Michigan until recently and he’s going to Michigan Tech.

Whoa lol. I’m not slacking that hard. I still took two years of Japanese.

With your Japanese, you’ve got an extra bonus, but in general, I do see your point. I wonder how many times it has been an issue for bilingual applicants (who clearly state on their app that they are bilingual–not just going by last name)…who never actually took a high school level foreign language.

A word of caution, though regarding your major. Most schools have basic required coursework (or a minimum number of hours required in courses outside your major)–it helps you become an overall better-educated person. Although AP courses satisfied many of the CORE requirements of my just-graduated-from-undergrad D, she was required to take a few courses that had nothing to do with her major…she chose some interesting ones, like “From Hildegaard to Madonna: The History of Women in Music” and “Warfare in the Ancient Roman and Byzantine Era” to meet core requirements, outside all the astrophysics/math stuff required by her majors.
