I'm planning on applying to UPenn, but I wanted to know how important my freshman grades are to the applications. My freshman year i had a 3.42, but since then I've had a 4.0 or higher weighted and I got a 2330 on my SATs. Will my low freshman GPA be a deal breaker at UPenn?

If you’ve steadily improved your grades since freshman year, and have gotten close to straight A’s as you possibly can, then freshman grades really don’t matter. I seriously doubt it will be a deal breaker if you’ve been doing well in everything else.

Yes, they love to see improvement, and it’s not like you had straight B’s or C’s or anything. You’re in a way better position than I am. I had a 3.9 freshman year, and then did worse sophomore and junior and now, also senior years. Your good grades and test scores are definitely enough to have a decent shot at Penn, as long as you also have course rigor. Good luck!
