Importance of GPA/rank?

So I have always taken the best classes offered at my school, but little did I know that many of my classmates had been taking online AP classes for the past 4 years, bumping their GPAs through the roof... how much do you think my weighted GPA/rank matters in this? I never realized that I could talk online APs so my rank has been pushed back to the mid-20s.

I just don't want to be overlooked by the schools I am applying to because my rank isn't superior...

I'm a National Merit Semifinalist with a 2270 SAT score and 33 ACT score, class of 2012. I know these aren't through the roof, but I think they should be tolerable considering where I am applying. Although I'm applying to Ivies and state schools, I consider some of my target schools to be around the range of NYU, GWU, and BU.

Am I going to get crushed because of rank?

Thank you :)
So worried. I just want to get accepted SOMEWHERE D:

BU is an easy safety for you

I can safely say that GPA/Rank are not everything. I had a 3.83 UW GPA and a 43/417 Rank when I applied to Dartmouth ED this year. Did I believe that my academics were good? Well yes. But definitely not good enough. Yet I was accepted, and i;m now going to an Ivy! As long as your app provides evidence of your course rigor, your academic success, and your intellectual drive, its okay not to have a 4.0! Best of luck!

But in the end GPA (not necessarily class rank) is much more important than standardized test scores, though scores are also important.

Thank you, all of you, for your input  if anyone has anything else to say, I’m still listening!

Congrats on your acceptance tylrrvera and I also dont have a good rank, but with all due respect maybe your URM (i’m making a generalization here with your last name) and low-income status helped you?
