I was just wondering if everyone could rate the “hooks” by how much weight they hold in the admissions process, from greatest affect on admissions to least affect on admissions.
Here’s my rating.
Greatest to least affect
Recruited Athlete
URM
Low Income
Extreme hardship
First generation college
Legacy
This only applies to very selective schools.
Development kid/celebrity > recruited athlete > “fac brat” (kid of faculty member) > URM/legacy > first gen/hardship
For non selective schools
Development kid/celebrity > recruited athlete > “fac brat” (kid of faculty member) > URM
Why does it really matter? Either you are one or not. You can’t affect it.
