How important is an Art class in high school for admission to selective schools. Should I squeeze Art1 into my senior schedule because I have continued to put off taking one every year? It will be an easy A elective but will slightly lower my weighted GPA. It is not required for graduation at my high school, but was wondering if its something you would need to have for college admissions. Thanks

not realy. This is coming from someone who has taken art every single year up to AP Studio Art.

I mean, if you could, take AP Studio Art, but if your passion or capabilities aren't up to that level yet, work up to it, it would show diversity, you can even send slides into colleges of your best art work. Anything to stand out you know.

UCs require an year for their Visual Performing Art requirement. If you
are not planning to apply to UCs you are fine.

Thanks MIT 012. And i'm not an artist by any means, i just have taken ZERO art classes in high school and was wondering if most colleges wanted you to at least have an art class somewhere in High School. I think my question has been answered and an art class is not needed for admissions to most selective schools.
