but my interview at U of C was horrible. The guy and I just clashed for some reason. At one point he asked me if I was an elitist, I said no, and he said o then you wont do good here...it got worse

YIKES that's harsh. well my yale interview sucked like a vaccuum not that i'd get in in the first place.

well usally interviews can't make or break you. it's just "considered" and rarely viewed as "highly important". if your application essays and stuff like that were good then i wouldnt worry too much. and realy, if you had had an interview with someone differnet, maybe it could have been much better. so its kind of hard to judge a person with just an interview cuz it's like the school has an opinion of who you are based on just one person who met you in just one sitting. dont stress too much and wait it out!

Funny - I had 2 interviews. One for northwestern which went poorly. Nothing went significantly wrong but my interviewer had an intense accent and it made it hard for me to understand her. My Uchicago interview was amazing - I went to the alumni's law office and we sat in the conference room and just chatted. I can't imagine the conversation we had being of too much significance in the admission decision. I think they just check to see if you're not a blue haired one eyed peg legged pirate named dr. Flinklesteins

That's a relief, I fit all of those things, but have yet to recieve my doctorate.........i'm still just a blue haired one eyed peg legged pirate named Mr. Flinklesteins

As long as the admissions people don't see any other red flags with regard to your personality, then I think you're fine. If your essays and recs were good, then I think you'll be fine. Stuff like that happens to everyone.

If this interview was at the college, though, then the man who did it will probably pull more weight, and it could have more of an effect.

It seems to me that interviews are overall not extremely important. Of course, it lets them learn more about you, but remember that Ted O'Neill, not your interviewer, is the one who makes the final decision.

I think interviews are crucial only in special cases, such as for homeschoolers (as I am); no two homeschoolers are alike, so schools like to learn how you spend your high school years.

Your interviewer must have been pretty darn harsh on you. My interview, I think, was my best of the three I had (for three different schools). I guess it all depends on the individual. I thought my interviewer was extremely pleasant, and we chatted for quite awhile.

An interview doesn't make it or break it, though. Don't worry too much. :)

It goes without saying that your interview must've been embarrassing and frustrating beyond belief.... I'm just astonished, especially considering how enjoyable mine was (my interviewer goes to law school at Cornell, and we just talked for nearly two hours.... much better than the one with the Princeton alum). Generally I don't think interviews retain exceptional weight in the process, but I hate to admit that I think it could have a negative impact if it went really poorly. But your stats seem excellent and provided your essays were good, I think they'll probably overlook the negative comments of one of potentially thousands of interviewers.

at one point in the interview ,when he asked me about football, I told him that I had the same knee injury my sophmore and junior year but still came back to play my senior year, worked hard in therapy .and went injury free my senior year, he said "So why did you continue to play football if you disliked it so much."

I also told him about my interest in physics, especially astrophysics, and he asked me if I read about some wierd engeneering article (he said it was physics, but designing a car that runs off of magnatism doesnt sound like astrophysics to me.) After I told him I had not he said I must not be too interested and then laughed, so I laughed to which made me feel even more like an idiot.

It was awful, but I really worked hard on my essays and I thought they were great, so we will see. No need worrying about it now

yikes that sounds a LOT like my yale interview X_X
he's like "well if you liked it so much why didnt u continue with your summer courses" and im ilke "uh.. i went traveling over the summer"
ugh it was the worst interview ever but yale its not like im going to get in the first place so im not reallhy concerned

but honsetly i dont think interviews hav that much weight and im sure adcoms would understand that depending on which person u had, the interview would hav gone differently. and maybe your interviewer was like that for everyone else too and maybe adcoms will see a trend of applicants who had the same interviewer as you . iono
but we have 10 days to wait it out!! relax for now cuz theres nothing to change it! ahh stressful 10 days but we can all wait!! :)
