Hello all,
My daughter is a rising senior, and Trinity is one of the top 3 schools that my she is interested in. I am wondering if anyone can shed any light on the interview that they offer, and the importance of completing one. My daughter plans to apply EA, and has a lot of anxiety about the prospect of completing an interview. Wondering if any of those from past years can comment as to whether or not they did an interview, and if so what the format was. Thanks in advance!
@MOMom22 I noticed that no one has commented so although my D did not apply, I wanted to just respond with some tips. Is there a way that she could do mock interviews with someone? Just for practice. Also, my D did interviews with some of her schools that were safeties to get practice before she moved into her interviews for her reaches.
I would also look at their CDS and see what importance they gave to the interview. I do know of a student who interviewed and from what I understand it was very low key and casual. If she does interview have her look at their website and have her come up with some questions that are not easily obtained from there. If she can talk about why it’s a good fit for her then that would be great. Remember also that it’s just as much for her to find out about the school and if she wants to apply there.
Unless the student will definitely make a bad impression, I would say have her interview. And it would take a lot I think for that to happen.
I think also that the interview would only be heavily weighted if she was applying for their top scholarship.
It’s a great school- we attended their open house and were impressed. My D ended up not applying but we would have been happy if it had ended up on her list. And as I said my friend’s D ended up there this fall.
To supplement the post above, the top scholarships are actually awarded based on essays that are submitted at the Towers Scholarship Day program. Students are broken into a number of groups, and then materials given to them for review, and then they are asked to write the essays.
No interview for the Towers Scholarship at least through last year.
In general, try to urge your D to relax and be herself. She should dress nicely, have a folio with some well thought out questions of her own available to ask, and politely interact with the interviewer. Good experience!
