Importance of interviews

I had my interview a couple of weeks ago, and while I feel like it went overall well, I’ve been a little bit worried that it didn’t go perfectly. The main problem was that at the end of the interview, my interviewer asked me if I had any questions and I had already asked all the questions I had during the interview so I was a bit speechless. I managed to come up with two or three but there were some torturous pauses.

My main question is, then, how important is the interview in the admissions process? I know alumni say it is pivotal but they are not exactly unbiased. I’ve heard from multiple other reliable sources that alumni interviews are somewhat important but overall quite negligible in the admissions process since an opinion of someone is so subjective. That is, unless you come in and seem psychotic, it will make pretty much no difference. Does anybody have information on this?

Please read the FAQ that is posted on this very page that addresses this question and is a better place to post any other questions about the interview process.

Really? OMG, do you think I might see her?
