Hey guys, I just was wondering how much leadership roles are valued by admissions officers. I grew up being told that "leadership is #1" when it comes to ECs, but I'm really unsure. I'm well poised to assume leadership roles in a few clubs/societies by my senior year, and these are clubs I'm really dedicated to, especially because they play to my strengths as a student. Can anyone confirm or disprove the bit about leadership?

Leadership roles are respected in all ways. It assumes responsibility, commitment, and passion. So naturally, more selective schools’ admissions offices will look for applicants who’ve assumed those roles.

Even if you to a school not as selective as a top 20, prior experience will greatly benefit you when you are looking to apply to more selective clubs on campus or actual jobs if you will be working the first time while in college.

Thanks for the input!
