Importance of Mid-year report?

A lot of colleges are asking that I send them my 1st semester grades for my senior year. I was wondering, how important is this really?

If I have straight As with a difficult senior schedule, does it bolster my application in a significant way? Or is the mid-year report just kind of like a tiebreaker for people who are on the bubble of getting in?

A better way of asking is, are they only something that can bring you down? Or do colleges look at them in the same way as grades from Freshman to Junior year?

They are seriously considered. Senior year, after all, is when most students are taking their hardest courseload. Besides which, senior year is an entire quarter of your high school career; adcoms would be foolish to ignore it. It’s important to keep your grades up where they were from freshman to junior year.

I have my best grades ever senior year in 4 AP classes. I have the same question as above.

Very important. Great grades with a rigorous schedule will help you. Average/good grades (similar to your previous grades) will be expected. Below average grades can certainly hurt your chances.

What if my IB predicted jumps up from 42/45 to 45/45 compared from the senior year predicted on my transcript and my mid-year?

Hey I have like the same problem.
I attend a specialized high school and during my junior year i received a 89.90/90.02 during my 2 semesters, while taking 1 AP. Now during my fist term of Senior Year (my midyear report), I think I will be getting an 83.3 - 85 (in that range), but I’m taking 3 AP’s this year as compared to 1 AP Junior year. Is that a huge drop off that will cause a red flag in my application? Thanks, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
