Importance of mid year report

Hello, my first semester is about to end soon, I’m more than halfway on the second quarter. I’m getting emails from colleges about the upcoming mid-year report. I know that mid-year reports are important for retain admissions and getting in as well from what I’ve heard. However, I feel my question isn’t something that can be answered by “Googling” it.

My question is how much will “my” MYR affect me in this scenario? I applied to mostly for Comp Sci programs (some EE), my AB Calc and AP Biology grades aren’t that hot, around C’s, of course, I’m not proud of these grades. Some aspects were harder than I thought and other parts are my fault (i.e not studying well/enough).

However, every other class is looking great. Note, this year I have 0 CP, 5 AP, 1 H AP CS was an A- last quarter and is A+ for 2nd quarter (expect it to go down, b.c it’s at 100%). My other AP’s are A-'s and A’s, and 1 B+ in Eng H.

As a prospect student who has decent grades for Comp Sci, which is something I’m applying for, will schools judge me negatively because I’m not doing the best in math/science classes even though in CS I’m doing well. Also first quarter GPA was higher than I’ve ever had, even though it could be better. I doubt the 3 schools I got into will revoke my 14k scholarships or admissions correct?

Of course, I have some big reworking to do in order to mitigate the damage I’ve done.

Thanks for reading.

What was your cum GPA to Junior year and what is your Senior year GPA? It will depend on the colleges, of course. For instance the UCs don’t look at senior year grades except the end of the year.

My Junior GPA was 3.35, took some hard courses, etc. not that impressive, the first quarter for this year I got around a 3.92-4. I didn’t apply to any UC schools because I live on the east coast. I guess I will have to look up each individual college and see what they use the MYR for. If I remember CCNY engineering (and the whole school in general) doesn’t look at MYR.
