I recently received my National Merit Scholarship Finalist status and am curious as to how helpful it is on college applications. Do schools like MIT and the Ivy Leagues have so many NMSC Finalists that it’s nothing special? Would it have much of an impact or just be seen as a very small piece to the total package?
<p>you are correct in your assertion about the Ivies - nearly everyone is a finalist or commended. But, many schools in the second and third tiers throw money at finalists, including 50-100% tuition reductions. Congrats</p>
