Importance of Physics

I plan on going into corporate law, most likely going to end up at SeattleU, and I’m planning for my senior year schedule. I’m just wondering… how important is taking physics in high school? I’ve never been great at it, I don’t like it, and I have zero interest in it in general. Also, the teacher for it at our school is rather tough, so I don’t want to risk my GPA or my sanity by studying really hard and not getting an A. Do colleges really care if you take it?

I’ve taken Biology, Chemistry, and this year, I’m taking AP Environmental. Next year, I’m deciding between Physics and Forensics.

Your other science courses even you out, so don’t worry about not taking physics. For your senior year, take something you’ll enjoy for a science. As long as you’re taking a decent number of classes and not slacking, your schedule will look fine to colleges.

I’ll be taking 4 AP’s and a college-level Spanish class, so I hope it balances out.

Forensics should do you fine. Maybe it’d even come in handy, during a law career?
On the other hand, Physics shouldn’t be so terrible. I do doubt it’d make (or break) any part of your applications!

Good luck, yo!

Bump.

Forensics is fine. You aren’t going to be a STEM major, and are not gunning for a tippy top school. You will be just fine.

@intparent I will be applying to Stanford, just for kicks, but will it affect my chances greatly at admission there? Or UCBerkeley?

Yes, those are a different story. But odds are so low for Stanford admission – do you have the rest of the package needed? And Berkeley is very expensive if you are out of state with pretty much no aid.

UCBerkeley will be 58K out of pocket, do your parents have that? It’s prestigious but the latest budget cuts make me think that it’s too high an investment for the return (unlike the situation for top CA students, who get an excellent deal).
As for Stanford, it’s for kicks, so, don’t do everything in relation to something that are 1 in 25 odds.
For Seattle U, UPS, UPortland, Lewis&Clark, Gonzaga, even with Whitman, Reed or UWA as reaches, Forensics would be more than fine alongside 4 Ap’s and Dual-Enrollment Spanish.
