Hello, I am a CCC student and I’m planning on applying as a mechanical engineering major. Right now I’m taking Calc III and I am not doing very good. I wanted to ask if it is more important to have all my prereqs done by the time of application? I want to apply to UCLA as it is my dream school but I need to plan ahead for it. I want to drop calc III because I am not doing so well but then I would have to take it during the spring. If I take calc III now I might end up with a B or C but if I push it to next spring I should be able to do well because the summer course is just too fast. However then I will not have it done. My current GPA is a 4.0 but I still need 16 units of prereqs to be done in the fall and another 6 units of IGETC to be finished in the winter. In the spring I will only be taking the strongly reccommended classes if I do not drop calc.
@rednotebook3 You don’t need to have all your pre-requisites done at the time you are applying. The transfer admission guide for UCLA states that it needs to be completed by the spring semester before you transfer. So if you were planning on applying this Fall in 2019, you would need it completed by the spring semester of 2020.
@moonknight Okay yes for sure I’ll have everything done, but I’m just asking if having it done by the time of my application with a B is better than finishing it in spring? (assuming I get A’s on everything else)
@rednotebook3 I would say so, especially if you are applying for a competitive major.
