Importance of Princeton Interview?

How much do Princeton Interviews matter? I know that generally speaking, interviews are not given a significant weight. But each school is different... I know that Dartmouth take interviews more seriously than some other schools such as Cornell and Penn...

How much weight will be given to the interviewer's comment for Princeton?

I have to confess that i did not have a great interview. In fact, i believe my princeton interview is the worst one i've had so far out of Harvard, MIT, Dartmouth, and Princeton... The guy went there for grad school and didn't really know much about undergrad teaching and life... He also spoke English as a second language, so we did have a bit of problem communicating... and he had no idea what APs or any of the contests and activities i did are, since he grew up in Norway....

My interviewer said they really don't matter too much. He told me that even if he wrote a summary detailing how exceptionally horrible I was, the admissions office would look at it and say, "hmmm... this must be quite an interesting individual."

My advice:

Don't sweat it. An interview, particularly for Princeton, will not make or break your application.

Schwaby is right, it hardly affects your chances.

lol Schwaby, what your interviewer said was very funny.

my p'ton interviewer told me something like this...

imagine two piles of applications. one is made up of good candidates and the other is made up of bad candidates. a good interview could be what pushes a good candidate into the "accepted" pile, and a bad interview could push them into the "rejected" pile. the bad candidates are already pretty much in the "reject" pile. unless they are jesus or something.

just what she told me!

wow, is it normal to ask interviewers how much our interviews count? it just seems so... i dunno, like you're calculating too much and aren't sincere about connecting with the interviewers (personal opinion, not trying to offend anyone). anyway, my general impression is that interviews aren't that important in the evaluative sense (as compared to gpa and test scores) except when you need to explain something that wasn't apparent in your app that could otherwise (i.e. w/o the explanation) work against you. i had to do that so i'm glad i did those interviews.

Pwannabe...id have TONS to talk to with ur interviewer...after all, I grew up in norway and can speak norwegian too

thesundaystar1,

yeah, that's what i'm afraid of... now, after a not so great interview... :( my before precarious chance now is even less..
