A lot of my friends are doing research over the summer, and some of them might get to co-author in journals and stuff. I want to do the same, but the thing is, I'm interested in doing business so there aren't nearly as many opportunities (or maybe I didn't look hard enough =/) for me. How important are research and possibly publications in the admissions process? Are they common among applicants to top schools (I'm starting to think they aren't, since I know so many people who do them/have done them)? Do you think they can be a big boost? If so, I need to ask around more :P

If you’re referring to undergraduate admissions, the answer is that VERY FEW high school grads will have scientific publications by the time they’re applying to college.
