Importance of SATS for Penn

well my school the kid that had a 95 GPA 780crM630 W610 got accepted yet the following stats were denied:

102 GPA 750/720/800
100.48 670/690 670
99.32 690/800/540
97.65 640/800/680

All Northeast kids, the neighborhood I doubt is in anyway hooked for Penn

And yet, Percy Skivins no one who has participated in this thread is doing what you warn against.

I'm sorry if that sounded like I was annoyed at your Percy Skivins. I understand what you're saying, and I accept it. I know that I'll have to set myself apart from the other students at my school, who do have the SAT scores. However, they don't really have the well-rounded activities that I have and the awards. My essays, recommendations, and grades are really good too. I just hope all of that makes up for my poor SATs. It's one reason I'm applying early decision. Thanks for your perspective, though.

samiamy - I almost put in my above post "don't tell me about the one kid you know who had a 2000 and got in". We are talking about ODDs here. They admit several thousand people so even if the odds of getting in w/ a 2000 unhooked are 1 in 1000 (and actually they are better) there would still be a few, but an ancedote like yours proves nothing statistically. I know someone who won $1 Million playing Pick Six lotto (true story) but that doesn't mean you'll win if you buy a ticket.

I jus think its very marginal when it comes to admissions.
I read everything everyone says but I take it with a pinch of salt because I know that when I get accepted, deferred or rejected that may or may not be the reason for it.
I'm just waiting for Dec 15.. and then the RD round for the other really good Universities I could go to if not accepted to Penn. :-)
