When applying to Ivies such as Cornell, how important is it for admissions to see that you are taking part in community service during the summer? I regulary volunteer during the school year, but I recently heard from a few friends that said that their high school said that community service during the summer doesn't really mean much. Only volunteering during the school year would help with admissions. Have you guys heard similarly or not?

If you volunteer regularly at any point during the year, that’s great! I wish I did that…
Regularly shows commitment and that’s what counts more, not the time of year.
It will boost your application, but it’s just another element, it won’t be the final deciding factor.
