Importance of taking both?

Hello CC!

I am a senior applying under an early program. I'm happy with my SAT I score (2300), but I will be taking the October ACT for the first time in a week. I have been so busy writing essays and doing school work that I honestly haven't had time to study for the ACT. Hence, I do not think I will do well. Am I at a disadvantage to only have taken the SAT?

And since I have a feeling I will not do so well on the ACT, do I have to submit my ACT score?

Thanks!

Most colleges only require one or the other. As a matter of fact, I have seen admission sites recommend that students only send their best test, either the SAT or the ACT, not both. So no, you aren’t at a disadvantage, and no, you do not have to submit your ACT score.

If you are my kid and already have a 2300 SAT score, I would suggest not taking the ACT.

I agree with younglookingmom, unless you think you are certain that you can get a 35/36.
