Important ACT to SAT "conversion" question?

Okay. So I just got my ACT scores back, and I got a 35 composite. Now, many sources go so far as to call this a "1580" or a "2350" or whatever. My question is, will the majority of schools TREAT this score like those quite impressive scores?

RC0, you should know better; it's nearly a perfect score.

I know, but I live in NY; here, you say "35" and people go "oh" because it sounds quite nearly meaningless and alien to their ears. I'm not trying to be cocky or pompous, just wondering if it truly is okay to send JUST my ACT scores (with writing of course but writing scores have yet to be released) to most colleges.

Yeah, I have a friend who solely took the ACT. Whenever people ask him his "SAT" score, which is oh so popular--he just told them the conversion for the score.

Haha yeah, that makes sense. Alright, thanks. Sorry if I came across as pompous, just wondering.

Totally Agree! Even my Guidance Counselor was confused when I told her my ACT score, as I am probably one of the first people to take it at my school.

I know how you feel. Only 2 people from my school took it and my test center had 18 people there. It was pretty funny compared to how packed the school gets for the SAT

i'm wondering the same thing..

i got a 34 and thats much better than my 1410/790 W score but still.. 34 sounds ehh to everyone else. when i told my mom she was like uhmm ok? before i explained that was like a 1520

colleges will see 35 as a great score. a kid at my school got into harvard only sending his act score (he also got a 35). here in the midwest, the exact opposite is true. nobody has any clue what sat scores mean, but saying you got a 35 act will definitely impress. the nearest sat test center for me was an hour and half drive away, and few people were there :)

Our number 2 senior last year got into Harvard, and he only submitted his ACT (35).

When they do your composite, do they round up? For instance out of your for scores your averaged a 32.5, would they round that up to a 33?

i'm pretty sure they round up. at least, my 34.5 got rounded up to a 35 so I would assume the 32.5 would be a 33.

ugh, I'm so nervous; I just want to see my scores.

Yes, they round up.

I'm curious to see how I did on that essay...

My friend got into Penn with just his 32 ACT. (teehee I'm so proud of him!)

I know that princetonreview and other sites have means for top rank schools such as penn at a mean of 30, Dartmouth with a 30, and Brown with a 29; how subjective is that?
