I’ve emailed registrar/general help desk and called a few times, but I’m getting no answer or am placed on hold so long I just give up.

So, I’ll ask here.

What exactly is the registration advising period? This one’s coming up really soon (April 19- May 14 or so) and I’d really like the information.

To go along with it, what exactly is registration? I thought it was signing up for classes and such, but some people have told me that for their colleges, it’s more of a ‘show up and tell them you’re there’, kind of affair.

Do I have to sign up for either of these, and where?

“Registration advising period” refers to the time period where you meet with your faculty advisor (aka counselor) and discuss which classes to take in order to graduate in time, etc. If you don’t have an advisor yet, you will most definitely be told who he/she is during your first visit or you could swing by your department office and ask them directly.

Registration refers to the time period where you can add/swap/drop classes in your class schedule. When you say "people have told me that for their colleges, it’s more of a ‘show up and tell them you’re there’, kind of affair. ", they are probably refer to advising. So in summary:

*Registration - Adding/swapping/dropping your class schedule. Done through the internet (BRONCODIRECT) and you can do it by yourself.
*Advising - Meeting with your faculty advisor in person. Not a big deal for some majors, until you start doing collaborative work/undergraduate research with them.

Tell me your major and I will tell you where’s your departmental office and give you their phone number.

Thanks for the info!

My major is Animal Science (pre-vet track).
